I absolutely love brownies! however this recipe is entirely clean and safe to eat. It is completely easy on our digestive system due to the organic wholesome ingredients and the amazing thing is that it is 100% RAW!!
This recipe is also caffeine free, and does not contain cacao powder, as cacao naturally consists of caffeine , i have decided to make a recipe that is completely stimulant free, for those who are sensitive to caffeine. Caffeine is addictive as a drug, that is why cacao (chocolate) has a similar affect to caffeine as it contains caffeine too.
Instead of cacao i have replaced it with carob powder, which has the same colour to it, but a slightly different taste. it is an amazing replacement, although it is not completely like chocolate but it is an amazing ingredient to make raw, nutritious desserts.
Instead of dairy I have replaced it with tahini, which really adds creaminess to the thick top layer of the brownie which combines well with the dates and almonds.
Food Processor and a Cake Pan
The ingredients are:
For the base:
* Soaked Almond (2 hours)
* Maple Syrup (your preference sweetener)
For the Top Layer:
* Crushed Almonds
* Maple Syrup
Nuts can be hard for us to digest, that is why it is best to soak them in water, to ease digestion. Soak the almond for a few hours. This will soften the almonds and activate them. Set to dry for another 20 minutes
Place the dates and almonds into a food processor and pulse until they are all broken down into small pieces. Place the carob and maple syrup into the processor, until it is thoroughly mixed.
In a cake pan, place the base contents onto the bottom of the pan and use your fingers to smooth down the mixture until they are firmly placed.
In a bowl, mix:
1 tablespoon of maple syrup,
2 tablespoons of tahini,
2 tablespoons of carob powder, and mix away until it has a thick, creamy like consistency.
Place this thick sauce onto the base contents
Decoratively scatter crushed up almonds onto the cake.
Place the cake in a fridge, at let it harden up for 2 hours
